Climate Change Summit 2008
Victoria’s Climate Change Summit, held in April 2008 at Parliament House, drew on the best ideas from the community to ensure our state stays at the forefront of this crucial issue.
One hundred delegates were chosen to share their views on this crucial issue. They represented a broad cross section of the Victorian community, coming from industry, non government organisations, peak bodies, local government, community groups and regional Victoria. You can download a copy of the communiqué that was released immediately following the Summit below.
What happened at the Summit
After the summit, a discussion paper was released that allowed the community to continue the conversation about the future direction of climate change policy and action. Following the Summit, individuals and organisations responded to the discussion paper with both formal and informal submissions. These contributions helped inform the development of the Climate Change Green Paper.
The Summit Paper - A Climate for Opportunity provided a snapshot of climate change policy and action, both in Victoria and Nationally. It discussed the changing role of the Victorian Government and potential future directions for climate change policy in Victoria.
Discussion starters from the Summit
At the Summit, the Discussion Leaders guided sessions on a number of important topics:
