Lasting change, sustainable jobs for Aboriginal people and productive working partnerships are the focus of the new DELWP Aboriginal Employment Plan 2016 – 2020.

Aboriginal people and productive working partnershipsThe plan, titled Munganin — Gadhaba meaning, 'Achieve Together' was launched at the new offices of Taungurung Clans Aboriginal Corporation, the former DELWP Broadford depot, on Tuesday 29 March by the Parliamentary Secretary for the Environment, Anthony Carbines, representing the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Natalie Hutchins.

The plan recognises the need to build and strengthen our relationships with Traditional Owners and to work with Aboriginal communities across the state to provide employment, training and business opportunities to Aboriginal people living in Victoria.

DELWP will employ an additional 60 Aboriginal staff over the next four years, increasing employment from 32 to more than 90 Aboriginal people by 2020. This represents a target of 3 per cent Aboriginal employment in the department.

The plan is supported by $1.1 million in Victorian Government funding.
